Medicinal Uses - Calamus has antibacterial, anti-cancer, antihistamine, and abortifacient properties.  The herb can be used as a decongestant and expectorant, used to treat lung ailments, sore throat, bronchitis as well as the common cold and flu.  Calamus root is also used to aid digestion, to treat bloating, gas, nausea, and heartburn. Other uses for calamus root are regulating menstruation and arthritis, stimulating one’s energy, and as an aphrodisiac
